1. Inventory Optimization: Segment and analyze SKUs to determine proper safety stock levels; identify working capital tied up in inventory; define the right inventory levels for each node within a supply chain; and quantify the health of current-state inventory through relevant KPIs.

KPIs and Performance Measurement Systems: Design data-capturing and feedback systems so problems are identified at the point of occurrence for immediate resolution; coach teams on how to use KPIs and supporting data for root-cause analysis; build feedback loops that route information to the functions accountable for resolution; and align incentives so the right behaviors are rewarded across the organization.

3. Operations Improvements: Map value-creating, non-value-adding, and waste activities; redesign processes for greater efficiency; and design and implement optimization engines to eliminate manual work.

Russ Forthuber brings over 15 years of blending theoretical and pragmatic approaches to problem-solving. After earning an MBA and SM in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, he held supply chain and sourcing/manufacturing leadesrhip positions at Nike and AWS. Prior to graduate school, he served as an operating engineer aboard LNG tankers in the merchant marine and as a fluids systems design engineer. He is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Professional Engineer's license in California.
